What They Wore / Golden Globe Awards 2013

It’s that time of year again, the Golden Globe Awards have kicked off! (And for those who are blissfully unaware of the annual event, it’s basically awards for television and cinema!) The Golden Globe Awards event was held in Los Angeles last night, so I took to the liberty of hunting down what your favourite celebs were wearing…

Hunger Games sensation, Jennifer Lawrence, not only has her outfit to smile about here but her award-winning performance! Lawrence won ‘Best Actress’ for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook.

Lawrence wears a stunning floor-length, strapless dress.. Where do I begin? Lawrence has the outfit sussed – from her hair to her accessories; this girl is rocking her outfit. I love the edge the black belt gives her outfit, the effect? Emphasised hips and curves!  In addition it draws the eye to the major detail of the dress-the ‘flare’ skirt. The colour is bold and brave without screaming for too much attention and I just love her box clutch! Slammed for her wardrobe malfunctions at the event (with claims that her dress didn’t fit properly), I’m not joining the mass opinion of the critics – I love this number!

Adele rocks the carpet as well as the awards, bagging an award for ‘Best Original Song’ in ‘Skyfall’ (the latest bond movie).

Adele wears a simple, floor-length black dress, on-trend with the lace Adele, but would’ve liked to have seen some accessories to give the outfit extra impact! Style tip: a simple addition of accessories can instantly add glamour and complement an outfit. Need advice on how to accessorise? Go to ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and toes’.

Jennifer Lopez wore a Zuhair Murad dress to the Golden Globe Awards – fashion’s show stopping performance of the night! I love everything about J-Lo’s outfit, embracing the ‘lace’ detail from head-toe! The addition of the clutch adds edge and her earrings are to die for. Her hair is sleek and encrusted with curls, the side-sweep shows off her earrings too!
Emily Blunt looks gorgeous in this Michael Kors metallic gown! She’s nailed two of S/S 2013’s trends – Metallic sheen and fabric cut-outs! The attention to detail when it comes to accessorizing makes Blunt’s outfit all the more breath-taking – her large studs and square clutch give the outfit dimension without getting too overwhelming!

Best known as your High School Musical sweetheart, Vanessa Hudgens turns up the fashion with her outfit!

I don’t know where to start, Vanessa’s outfit is be-au-ti-ful. She’s ticked all the boxes
Accessories - Vanessa’s earrings complement the gold shades of her studded dress without distracting the eye too much away from the gown. Her clutch is closely partnered with the addition of some select few rings- all in keeping with the colour scheme of the outfit.
Hair - Hudgen’s do is simple but stylish, her slicked back hair is elegant and classic to fit in with the mood of her outfit!
Dress - How many ticks can I put? I’m in awe of Vanessa’s dress, sequined from top-toe it’s sparkling without being blinding! The gold sequins add warmth and sophistication to her oufit. Hudgen’s also ticks another box with her fabric split down the front of her dress.
Selena Gomez masters ‘Metallic sheen’ with this number. The warmer tones of her outfit contrast nicely with her side-swept hair and although Gomez only wears earrings for her accessories, any more additions and the outfit would be ruined. The design in itself is quite bold and is almost architectural with its sharp, structural bodice. Paired with gorgeous nude shoes, Selena is amongst the best dressed at the Golden Globe Awards.
Sienna Miller supports the floral trend of 2013 with this 3D design. Miller’s dress had a 60’s flare to it with youthful, young colours and metallic, silver heels to match! I love the simplicity of Sienna’s outfit, no accessories needed here!

Anne Hathaway looks super statuesque with her dress. She ticks the box for fashion trends sporting the purity of white for the event. Her pixie cut draws attention to her facial features and doesn’t detract from the dress. I would, however, have liked to have seen an addition of a simple necklace to cover the bare exposure of Anne’s neck!

Lea goes monotone with her outfit for the awards, nevertheless it’s stunning! The split detail down the front of the frock trends the popular ‘fabric split’. Accessory wise Lea has it down to a T with her clutch bag, earrings and bangles.

So to conclude, the Golden Globe Awards were filled with some of fashion's best pieces yet! This makes me insanely excited for upcoming events such as 2013's Oscars and BAFTA's!
